Rep. Don Bacon: If McCarthy’s Speaker Bid Fails, Democrats Might Have To Be Part Of The Process; more on House GOP in new term; McCarthy relents on key conservative demand — but uncertainty remains over speaker bid; Here Are the House Republicans to Watch if McCarthy's Bid for Speaker Falters — There is a lot of debate about speakership and I’ve heard from a fair share of House members on the issue, but here is the real question: Who, if not him? If you want to talk about a legitimately bad GOP Speaker, look no further than John Boehner, the bane of conservatives’s existence back when we were in the streets and making real change during the tea party 2.0 revolution. McCarthy is no Boehner he, unlike previous GOP speakers, is hitting every major issue that liberty-first people claim they want. If there isn’t a legitimate sub — sorry, but Biggs isn’t it — then this is nothing more than performative bellyaching at a time when voters have clearly rejected such theatrics at the ballot box. It’s a stupid first move for the GOP and if they can’t get it together for their takeover today — and get on with it this late in the game — how are we to interpret this going into 2024?
George Santos: He lied, this much we know — but that’s not a crime in congress, just ask Joe Biden. Regardless whether you want him seated or not, the only people with that responsibility and duty are his voters. I outright refuse to cede to any political party that duty which is the voters’s duty — which is why I agree with the Founders in the Federalist Papers and oppose the progressive notion of term limits, too.
