The War for the Soul of the Right
It's not always about left and right. Sometimes it's very simply about good vs. evil.
If the fight between factions on the “right” is confusing, start here.
This battle began brewing years ago but only began bubbling to the surface a few years back, with the introduction of the “alt-right.” What is the alt-right? The alt-right was a movement that began before 2016, organized much in the same way as the left: around identity politics. The alt-right prioritized big government proposals to solve societal problems, just like the left. The alt-right successfully convinced people that populism, which is a tactic of messaging and not an actual set of beliefs, was a set of beliefs around which people can be ordered. Like the left, they prioritized racial identity and neo-isolationism, meaning that being “America first” meant withdrawing to one’s sector and withdrawing from the world, regardless whether doing so or not best served America’s interests. They purposefully (or due to a lack of education) conflated the long-hated neo-con nation-building policies with any representation of the United States on the international stage. Steve Bannon, after he assumed control over Breitbart in the wake of my late friend and former boss Andrew Breitbart’s untimely death, boasted to lefty rag Mother Jones that the site was now “the platform for the alt-right.” Andrew Breitbart despised identity politics.
Ten years later and it’s not called the “alt-right” anymore, now they’re mockingly called the “Woke Reich” because they’ve also made hostility to Israel a central pillar of their entire belief set.
It’s too much for one post, so I’m embarking on a series. We’ll start at the beginning, by explaining how Marxist, godless identity politics infected the right and now threatens to tank elections, beginning with midterms, and destroy America. Like the Marxist Derrick Bell with critical race theory, so, too, does this mind virus have a creator. This series will examine the two fronts of this battle and explore how a godless, mystic communist is pitting Protestants against Catholics while using Israel as a wedge — which simultaneously helps Islamists.
James Lindsay has been speaking about this to anyone who would listen for a few years already and, as he puts it, the right’s “immune system” has finally awakened to this threat. Our full discussion is below.
Ultimately, this isn’t about right verses left, but good verses evil.

This explains the insanity of Tucker Carlson and Candace Owen. Please keep talking about this and please name more names. I’ll forward this Substack to my conservative friends. Thanks, Dana. I love your show.
I am so glad you’re doing this series. I know a lot of folks following these so called “conservative” influencers and buying into everything they are selling at face value. Love the fact that I can get your analysis on it. I’ve trusted your take on these issues since discovering you at a tea party rally in Branson, MO many, many years ago. Thanks for all you do!
