The US Bombed Nuke Sites in Iran
Saturday night, the US struck Iranian nuclear facilities at Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan.
At 7:46 PM Eastern, President Donald Trump posted to his Truth Social account:
“We have completed our very successful attack on the three Nuclear sites in Iran, including Fordow, Natanz, and Esfahan. All planes are now outside or Iran air space. A full payload of BOMBS was dropped on the primary site, Fordow. All planes are safely on their way home. Congratulations to our great American Warriors. There is not another military in the World that could have done this. NOW IS THE TIME FOR PEACE! Thank you for your attention to this matter.”
Other than the timing, this isn’t really a surprise. On June 16th, Trump told the world to evacuate Tehran. Then he called for Iran’s unconditional surrender on June 17th.
Iran’s Khamenei responded by declaring that Iran would never surrender and that people should know better than to try to threaten Iran. Essentially, he called Trump’s bluff, but he forgot one thing.
Trump doesn’t bluff.
Trump then gave a short, roughly five-minute speech to the American people at 10 pm. In his remarks, he said the objective was the destruction of Iran’s nuclear capabilities, and the strikes were a spectacular success, resulting in Iran’s key nuclear enrichment facilities being obliterated.
“Iran, the bully of the Middle East, must now make peace, if not future attacks will be far greater and a lot easier.”
He mentioned the forty-year history of Iranian leadership calling for Death to America and Israel. He then brought up the 2020 strike that killed the then-head of the IRGC, Qasem Soleimani, and said, “I decided a long time ago this could not continue.”
He called Bibi Netanyahu a teammate in this operation. He thanked the Israeli military for their work on the ground before praising the Americans who flew the planes, and the Joint Chiefs Chairman Dan “Raising” Caine.
“This cannot continue. There will be either peace, or there will be tragedy for Iran far greater than we have witnessed over the last 8 days,” he said before bragging that while there are many targets left, tonight’s was the most difficult, and if peace doesn’t come quickly, we will hit the other targets.
Trump said that SecDef Hegseth and JCS Caine will hold a press conference tomorrow (June 22) morning at 8 am.
He ended his speech with, “I want to just thank everybody, and in particular, God. I want just say, we love you, God, and we love our great military, protect them.
God bless the Middle East, God bless Israel, and God bless America.”
The way Trump was talking, it felt like he was sending a message to Khamenei to fall in line or else. However, Iranian news sources reported that they had evacuated the three locations “some time ago.” The Iranian Atomic Energy Organization also said that this would not stop Iran’s nuclear development. It seems like maybe Khamenei has not yet learned his lesson, and we may have to strike Iran again in the future. However, word got out earlier Saturday afternoon that Khamenei had picked out three people to succeed him if he were assassinated. That action seems to indicate that he might be a bit scared. So will he come back to the negotiation table and agree to a peace deal? Or will he follow through on his promise to attack American military targets in the area? Only time will tell.
Regardless, Trump has made his position clear. In a post to Truth Social late Saturday night, he promised that if Iran retaliated against the US, they would regret it. And we all know, Trump doesn’t bluff.
