The Swamp Picks Scott, Cornyn, Thune for Senate Leadership Consideration
Secret ballot is on Wednesday.
While many celebrating last week’s huge victories the Republican establishment swiftly moved to clear the field of any challengers and install a winner from their hand-selected candidates for Senate Majority Leader by secret ballot on Wednesday.
If you follow me on social media you’ll seen that I’ve been very vocal (video here) about the swamp monsters selected to apparently lead us all back into the swamp. I have excellent reasons to oppose all three.
Rick Scott is a big government moderate who backed Obama’s amnesty, signed due process-destroying red flag legislation into lawn Florida, and indicated that Cornyn's red flag bill didn’t go far enough, thus his previous hesitancy to publicly endorse it. He recently started cozying up to Trump as a hedge of protection because he knows he’s exactly the sort of squishy Republican that got us into the mess from the beginning. His ardent opposition of due process is something I remember very well from the Parkland tragedy.
In fact, Scott is still so devoted to destroying due process that it remains a focus on his website:
Not only does Scott support obliterating due process, but the gun control bill he championed and signed into law raised the age of purchase and instituted a waiting period on purchases. The disagreement he seemed to express with John Cornyn’s gun control bill was that it didn’t go far enough in limiting the rights of Americans.
Thankfully, some gun rights orgs are sounding the alarm:
Scott has never answered for his support of abridging your Second, Fourth, and Fifth Amendment rights, nor has he agreed to explain if he’s ever changed his mind. He’s also never answered for his disastrous job running the NRSC during 2022 when his leadership racked up losses. Do you think he made a deal with McConnell considering McConnell was prevailed upon to intervene and spend a ton of his raised money to bail our Scott? The GOP establishment expects you to suck it up and go with their first choice pick. Whether or not he will cave on your rights is irrelevant to their needs.
John Cornyn put our rights in the crosshairs with his gun control bill in 2022 and was booed for it at the Texas GOP convention. Cornyn has been slammed by longtime conservative activists, grassroots, libertarians as being a moderate to the point of being a Democrat. Don’t even start on amnesty.
John Thune’s record is lesser known than Cornyn’s (not as lesser known as Scott whose PR campaign with Trump is blinding people to his record as a squish) but his rating with various conservatives groups would put you on academic probation in school.
Trump announced in video that he wants national reciprocity. This is huge — no other president or president-elect has ever verbalized this before. Do you think a gun control-backing Scott, Cornyn, or Thune would allow this to pass? If so, I have a bridge to sell you. Why would you gamble the agenda you voted for on Tuesday by settling anything less than the freedom mandate you delivered? Why give up this win to the establishment Skeksis?
Why due process is important and not just a “firearm issue:”
This isn't about firearms. It's about a cornerstone of this republic, due process. It's about protecting the presumption of innocent until you're proven guilty, not having the government weaponed against you, and protecting good people from being wrongly punished. Do you like the right of defending yourself in a court of law before a penalty is rendered? Red flag laws entirely eliminate this. Did you think the lawfare against some of the J6 attendees — not actual rioters — was unjust? Or that Alvin Bragg’s paier-mâché case against an expired bookkeeping misdemeanor ridiculous? If so, how can you support a senate leader that embraces more of the same?
When you support the destruction of due process — red flag laws — you're not just supporting the destruction of one amendment, the Second, you’re supporting the destruction of the Fourth and Fifth Amendments, too.
Why are we back here again, considering the exact swamp creatures that got us into these messes, the same creatures that wouldn’t fight for your kids in school, the same ones who meekly went with lockdowns, the ones who tried to Kumbaya their way to a compromise with Democrats on our borders.
We have some great lawmakers in the Senate who would do the job admirably. Lee, Paul, Cruz, even Vance, if possible. The establishment says they need someone who an bring consensus. How has that guidance worked out well thus far in all of the years we’ve practiced it without deviation? Haven’t you suffered enough these past few years? Do you not deserve to maybe try YOUR way for once? Clearly the swamp isn’t winning with theirs.
Be smart and don't let the GOP offer you anything less than what you are owed under this Constitution, nothing less that the liberty mandate you delivered last Tuesday. Call your lawmakers, demand better candidates and an OPEN VOTE.
I will have a ton more on this tomorrow, so be sure to tune in. For now, no compromise, no quarter. If you don’t fight for your rights and our future, who will?
There has to be better choices.
Agreed! Scott, Cornyn, Thune . . . I would trust this trio about as far as I could throw a cheesecake under water.
Hopefully DJT and his team will keep in mind that we didn’t vote for more of the same. I’m optimistic that they learned the lessons of bad hires after being undermined by many in their 2016 line-up
