Ronna McDaniel has reportedly said she’s stepping down after the South Carolina primary. The Republican party is a symphony of idiots right now.
Consider this week, with the border bill: The first fatal error is that Republicans accepted as serious the argument that you need more laws to enforce existing law at the border. You don't need to move to the amendment stage when the very premise is a non-starter.
On his first day in office Biden used executive authority to remove Trump's executive orders on immigration WHICH IS WHY YOU SHEPHERD LEGISLATION THROUGH CONGRESS AND STOP RELYING ON EXECUTIVE ORDERS FOR EVERYTHING, IT'S CALLED LEADERSHIP, FOLKS.
Interior enforcement, wall construction, MPP, everything overturned with a pen just as fast as it was implemented with one. Republicans had four years to make a legislative stand prior to Biden and didn't. No excuses. “But Dana!” some have said, “Trump and the GOP only held the majority for the first TWO years!” Tough-as-balls leaders don’t make excuses. There are no excuses here.
So now here we are. Border is nonexistent. Republicans walked right into a messaging trap in an election year and half will be to terrified to steel the spine and dig in. Democrats haven't even begun spending from their massive war chest or fulfilling their media buys.
They're going to beat Repub mercilessly with ads showing them opposing the border patrol union while Dems get to preen and pretend that they brought the bill forward, playing on the short memory and attention span of the electorate.
Knowing the GOP, they will likely pick that most inopportune time to have an ego-fellating, power-jockeying contest in which they try to one-up each other in another ill-timed speaker race for yet another guy with even less political capital to spend.
Or maybe they'll take to fighting with non-endorsement compliant candidates in winnable primaries while Dems gather all the mud-slinging for general ad season -- which they will be able to greatly outspend the GOP on because the national party is broke.
Many of the state parties are broke, some of the big-in-personality but small-in-votes candidates are struggling to even bring in a third of the cash the Dem opponents are raising. No direction from the top down on messaging, no top-down strategy, it's an absolute FUBAR position.
Nothing I'm saying here is incorrect, and people’s feelings are irrelevant on the issue. People either want to win or mess around with their feels. They can't do both. Anything other than the desire to steamroll over everyone and everything to win resoundingly in '24 is utter weakness.
So either people better get real about these major issues affecting this party NOW (which is still late) or go nurse their butthurt in the corner while the country goes to hell. No one cares about the fealty contests, the cliques, the egos. Winning is all.
The end.
Absolutely correct, Ms Dana! The party is FULL of incompetent and inept jellyfish. I am so sick of it all. Dems using behavioral science and the Republicans fall for it EVERY time. Clown show ! Why can’t they see this?
The republican party is full of simpletons. They should have impeached Biden over the border, then impeach him on his criminality. They just can't do anything right and they can't agree. They fail over and over again.
