Listeners of The Dana Show heard everything currently known about the February 3rd train derailment in East Palestine, Ohio, that spilled all sorts of toxic chemicals into the area. You can catch a replay of the show on YouTube if you missed it.
Initial reports said there was a large amount of vinyl chloride, which had to be dealt with in a controlled burn in order to prevent a much more dangerous situation. That controlled burn is what led to the photos circulating the internet of what looks almost like a mushroom cloud over the city.

Then word came on Monday that there were at least three other super toxic chemicals now spilling out on the Ohio countryside; ethylene glycol monobutyl, isobutylene, and ethylhexyl acrylate. According to Sil Caggiano, a hazmat specialist interviewed by WKBN, ethylhexyl acrylate is a carcinogen; contact with it can cause burning and irritation in the skin and eyes, and breathing it in can irritate the nose and throat and cause coughing and shortness of breath. Isobutylene is also known to cause dizziness and drowsiness when inhaled.
The local PD has warned people returning to the area not to drink the water, and the EPA is screening homes. National media has been largely silent about the environmental disaster happening in Ohio, and where was our Transportation Secretary? You know, Secretary Mayor New Mom Poot? Just last year he was taking credit for avoiding a rail worker strike, even though he was actually on vacation in Portugal while lower-level government workers negotiated with the Railway unions. So where was he while this was happening in Ohio?
Two days after the crash, while officials in Ohio were grappling with the chemicals, Pete was talking to Jake Tapper about how much he is most certainly NOT running for Senate in Michigan any time soon. Of his role as Transportation Secretary, he said:
“look, the job that I have is, first of all, I think, the best job in the federal government. This job is taking 110% of my time, and obviously, I serve at the pleasure of the president. But as long as he is willing to have me continue doing this work, I’m proud to be part of this team.”

A few days later, on February 9, Pete was in Lake Charles, Louisiana, to promote a $150 million dollar grant to replace a bridge. Later that afternoon, he skipped over to Port Arthur, Texas, to brag about a 13 million dollar grant the port was due to receive.
He popped up again on February 13, at the National Association of Counties Conference in DC, where he took a brief break from lecturing us all about the plague that is white construction workers, to joke about the hardships of his job. One thing he did NOT mention, was the situation in Ohio.

In fact, it wasn’t until about 8:45 pm Eastern on Monday, February 13th, a full ten days after the crash, that Pete put out any kind of statement about the situation by issuing a twitter thread that said the NTSB was handling things, and the EPA is monitoring the air.
His handling of this has been so bad even leftist writers are asking, “Why is Pete Buttigieg our Transportation Secretary?”
At least our friends at the Babylon Bee are having some fun:

#OhioChernobyl is Trending. Where is Secretary Mayor New Mom Poot?
49 CFR 173.242(b) requires a pressure relief valve be installed on rail car cargo tanks, to protect against overpressurization. It's the same exact thing that's on your water heater at home, to prevent your water tank from breaking if it gets too hot. The Ohio governor's briefing, that they were concerned about shrapnel release and explosion was either a complete lie, or the boldest expression of imbecility! The explosion hazard was zero, since there was not enough oxygen to mix with the chemicals in order to ignite inside the tank. The release and burn of the chemicals was completely unwarranted. No engineers consulted? Only CEOs and politicians?. If this release and burn was authorized by the governor of Ohio, it may as well be government terrorism on the people of his state. He should be prosecuted and resign.
Pete Butt is too busy destroying children's lives with his man. He has no time to deal with serious problems.
