Monday Grind: Neil DeGrasse Tyson and the Problem of Groupthink
Plus: The "BAKE THE CAKE" crowd is now pushing beer.
Tyson: “The individual scientist does not matter."
From the video (Twitter still has embedding disabled):
“Neil deGrasse Tyson on Why Certain Medical Experts Were Silenced During the COVID Pandemic ‘I'm not interested in medical pedigree. I'm interested in medical consensus and scientific consensus ... The individual scientist does not matter.’”
So Tyson doesn’t care about Galileo, presumably. Consensus isn’t synonymous with truth and the validity of an idea isn’t strengthened by consensus, it’s done by evidence, by data. Some of our biggest scientific advancements have come from those outside of the mainstream’s periphery. Under Tyson’s view of science we’d all still be using leeches to cure our illnesses.
But what’s more, this is the progressive mindset in a nutshell: the idea that an idea isn’t safe unless it’s widely-accepted. It’s the new standard of measure applied when determining the veracity of any claim — how many people support this? If many, then it’s true, if not many, then it’s false. This isn’t science, it’s politics and at this point Tyson should change his professional designation.
It brings to mind this excellent clip from an Allan Savory documentary wherein he tears apart the “peer reviewed” ideal:
From the “BAKE THE CAKE” people
It’s a bit of a stretch to assert that by Bug Light was supporting “civil rights” by merely glomming on to a self-obsessed TikToker who made a career out of mocking women but that’s exactly what Mr. Pete Buttigieg did:
How many people don’t understand the concept of civil rights? Progressives have so bastardized the definition that it’s thrown out as a red card every time the left doesn’t get something that they want. Even now the mere refusal to buy another woman’s birth control pills means that you’re (dramatic sigh!) denying her some heretofore unknown civil right.
What civil right is Bud Light supporting? The VP of Bud Light specifically said that the company needed to update “fratty” and “out of touch” branding. The VP noted that younger demos aren’t drinking beer, particularly Bud Light, which sounds more like younger demos just don’t want to drink crappy beer than anything else. They did there least they could do and quietly partnered with the most offensive, cartoon-like caricature of women’s behavior that they could find: Dylan Mulvaney.
The guy still has a five o’clock shadow, which makes this meme (born from the photos in the link) more accurate in terms of sponsorship:
I guess the left once again supports private companies making decisions? These are the same people that nearly rioted over the image of a woman on pancake syrup or an American Indian on a butter box. Those, they noted, were “appropriation.” “Insensitive.”
A dude appropriating the female sex is (D)ifferent.
Why don’t people see that Dylan Mulvaney is an angry, sick little fraud who both envies and despises women. His “girlhood” is a deliberate, grotesque caricature that doesn’t resemble any girl/woman ever born.
Bud Lite = Twink beer.
Myself, I like real beer. A heavy pilsner, almost ale, that tastes like bread.
