This morning at Apalachee High School in Barrow County, Georgia a suspect opened fire reportedly killing four and wounding an unconfirmed number of others. We are awaiting a 3pmCT press conference for further details.
The suspect was reported to be 14 years-old, but unknown whether they were a student, male or female. They were taken into custody.
The school reportedly received a call this morning warning that there would be shootings at five schools and Apalachee would be the first.
Schools have been gun-free zones for over 30 years per the The Gun-Free School Zones Act of 1990. Of the only three districts in Georgia where qualified teachers are allowed to carry, the Barrow County School System is not one.
