Kamala Does Special Report with Brett Baier
Kamala tried to GirlBoss her way through this interview and failed spectacularly.
This did not go well for Kamala. She came off as bitter and angry. Everyone out there who said Bret would be lobbing softballs should be eating their words right now. Kamala tried many times to steamroll Bret with her typical word salad answers, and Bret would not let that happen.
After the interview aired, Bret told the panel, “We were supposed to start at 5 pm; they gave us that time.” He went on to explain that initially, it was supposed to be a 30-minute interview, but then “they” said they would maybe be able to give him 20 minutes. After all the back and forth, Kamala didn’t show up until 5:15 pm. “So, we weren't given much time to turn around the video for the start of the show,” Bret said.
He also told the panel that while he did have to interrupt and speak over her, that was because she was trying to filibuster her way through the time. He said that usually, when someone takes a breath, the interviewer can jump in and redirect the question or move on, but she didn’t seem to want to let him do his job.
Kamala’s answer to every question was essentially, “But Trump…” with an occasional “stop talking over me” thrown in. Immigration? Trump killed our “bi-partisan border bill,” which Bret rightfully pointed out several members of her own party didn’t vote for because of the number of “undocumented” it would allow into the country every day.
At one point, Bret played the footage of Jocelyn Nungaray’s mother blaming the Biden/Harris open border policies for her daughter’s death. “Do you owe them an apology?” he asked. Kamala responded, “I will say I am sorry for their loss, but let’s talk about Trump.” She tried to find some way to blame him for everything and finally said that the immigration system was broken long before Trump. Bret responded that while that is true, “[The Border Patrol Union] say you’ve been a failure with border security.” Kamala pivoted right into complaining about that “bipartisan border bill” and again blamed Trump, a man who was not in office at the time, for killing it in Congress.
When confronted with her statements from 2019 about allowing illegals to get driver’s licenses, free tuition, free healthcare, and more, she said, “I will follow the law.” But you chose a running mate who signed all those things into state law, so do you still support it? “I will follow the law.” Uh-huh, sure, Jan.
Kamala said that she did not want to decriminalize crossing the border illegally. But, one could argue that the Biden/Harris “Catch-and-release” plan has done just that: decriminalized illegal border crossing.
Bret next asked about those ads Trump has been running using Kamala’s own words, advocating for taxpayer-funded gender-affirming care for prisoners. Her response was, “I will follow the law.” She then tried to claim that Trump did the same. When Bret pushed back on that idea, she responded, “You have to be responsible for what happens in your administration.” (I’m sure that statement won’t come back to haunt her in a million ads between now and November 5.) When Bret continued to push her for an answer to the question, she pivoted to talk about how much money Trump spent on the ad, and said he has to say mean things about her, because, you see, he has no plan. She’s offering a “plan.” If you call handing out taxpayer money hand over fist a plan, then I guess she has a plan.
Bret saw his next opportunity and asked, then why do more people trust him on the economy than you? Kamala did her typical word salad dance around the question to pivot it back to “but Trump.” She claimed she had a sound plan for the future, and Donald just wanted to give his buddies tax cuts. Somewhere in all that mess of a non-answer, she used one of her many campaign slogans, “Turn the page.”
Bret once again saw an opening and played both View and Colbert clips where she said she’d change nothing. So, what are you turning the page from? Kamala’s response was essentially that she’d be a change from the last decade, where we’ve “been burdened by Trump” running his mouth.
When Bret confronted Kamala with the reality that more than 70% of Americans say the country is on the wrong track, you could almost see her brain short circuit as she tried to figure out how to tie that back to Donald.
She stopped short of saying the American people are stupid but then repeated the claim from Joy Behar and others that Trump would turn the military on the American people who disagree with him.
This new bogus theory comes from an interview he gave to Maria Bartiromo. He was asked about Biden’s statements that this coming election day would not be peaceful, and he said our real problem is from the enemy within the country, radical left lunatics. Then Trump said, “And it should be very easily handled, if necessary, by our National Guard or if really necessary by the military, because they can’t let that happen.” This is a classic case of Trump not communicating as well as he should, and the Democrats taking everything he says out of context. Trump’s statement about using the National Guard was in reference to what Biden should do if he really thinks the election will not be peaceful. To back up my assertion, Trump also went on with Harris Faulkner and was asked about his statements. He told her it was ridiculous, and he hadn't threatened anyone.
When Bret played the Faulkner clip, Kamala got downright angry. She accused Bret of lying, and got herself all worked up. She accused Trump of wanting to lock people up for disagreeing with him (J6), prosecuting people he doesn’t like (Bragg, Smith, Fani, James, the whole DOJ), and ended her tirade by claiming Trump is unstable.
Bret used her comment about Trump’s supposed “instability” to ask when exactly was it that Kamala figured out that Biden’s brain is mush. She got visibly irritated and tried to defend Joe while refusing to say that there was a problem and pivoting to Trump. “Everyone who worked with Trump said he is unfit,” she said while praising the man who often wanders off to find the ice cream truck in the middle of whatever function he is at.
When asked about Iran, she said, “Well, in April or October, when Iran posed a threat, I was there, in the situation room.” Then immediately pivoted to a claim that Trump brushed off our soldiers and brought up the “suckers and losers” debunked nonsense.
To wrap up the interview, Bret left with the ultimate KO. He said, “I hope you were able to say what you wanted to about Trump.” Kamala then half laughed and interrupted him to say, “Oh I have a lot more to say!” At which point Bret delivered the knockout punch, “There are a lot of things that people want to learn about YOU! And your policies.”

Well done, Lorraine! You gave us a front row seat to a cringe filled interview. You saved us the pain of listening to that wind-bag - Thanks!
Clear, concise analysis, as usual. As I don't watch more than a 2-second clip of Harris in rant, I depend on you and Dana for just how the interviews go. And am pleased to see that Bret Baier didn't buy in to her "responses" to his questions.
