More details about the attack in Boulder have been released. The injured now number 15 people, eight women and seven men ages 25-88, and one dog. The attacker told police that he had planned the attack for over a year, carefully researching his target and methods. Videos he recorded just prior to the attack have been released on X. In them, he declared, “Jihad is more beloved to me than my mother, wife, and children. Allah is greater than the Zionists and America.”

He had dressed as a groundskeeper, going so far as to buy plants from Home Depot to really sell the idea. When enough of the crowd had gathered, he used the hose connected to his backpack to spray gasoline along with a lighter in an attempt at a homemade flamethrower. When that didn’t work the way he hoped, he moved to Plan B, the box of Molotovs he had hidden in the bushes. But that also backfired, as he wound up lighting himself on fire when he threw one of the Molotovs. (Yes, there is video.) He ripped off his shirt and hi-vis vest to get the fire off of him, which is why he was shirtless in the later videos. He supposedly told investigators that he only threw two because he got scared since he had never hurt anyone before. Personally, I think he got singed and got scared of hurting himself again. He said he had planned to die, but when the moment actually came, he wimped out and quickly surrendered to police.
