Hunter Biden Indicted
He's facing three counts relating to the purchase of his gun.
Hunter Biden has finally been indicted, not for operating as an unregistered FARA or any of the financial schemes he was involved in, not even for not paying his taxes on time. Hunter has been charged with one count of unlawful possession of a firearm and two counts of lying concerning the Form 4473 he filled out. You can read the charging document for yourself on CourtListener.
Hunter will likely take a plea on the gun charge, with a wink-nod agreement from the DOJ to conveniently forget the tax charges until after the statute of limitations runs out, in a sort of reverse of the original plea deal they all tried to sneak past the judge. This is especially likely considering his former lawyer’s threats to put President DaddyShowers McUnity on the stand.
However, seeing this go to trial would be fun. There have been a few court cases lately, mostly pertaining to marijuana use, that have found that drug use is not a reason to take away someone’s 2A rights. Then there is Judge ACB’s dissent in Kanter V Barr, which does not carry the weight of a judicial decision but could be cited along with the other cases, in which she states that non-violent felons should not have their 2A rights removed. It would be interesting to see how the Democrats handle this, pushing to loosen the restrictions on firearm ownership to protect the President’s son while also campaigning on the need for more gun control. But that is precisely why Hunter will be pressured to take whatever plea deal he can get to make all this go away quickly.
This indictment comes after some back and forth between FBI informants over Weiss’s ability to bring whatever charges he wanted. You might remember that IRS whistleblower Gary Shapley told Congress that Weiss did not have the ability to bring charges outside of Delaware. The DOJ said that wasn’t true but tacitly admitted as much when they gave Weiss Special Counsel status a few weeks later.
The Hill has spoken to the lead FBI Agent on the Hunter case, who says Shapley lied, and Weiss had the authority to do whatever, wherever. However, Politico has a "high-ranking FBI official" source who says that Weiss was, in fact, denied the requested help he needed to bring charges in California and that Weiss’s job was that much more challenging because of the lack of cooperation, 100% backing up everything Shapley said.
Meanwhile, Democrats are looking to hang Hunter out to dry to protect The Big Guy during the upcoming impeachment inquiry. It will all be Hunter’s fault, Joe won’t be responsible for any of it because he loves his son.
