Harris Blasts DeSantis for Blocking Her Attempt to Politicize Hurricane Response

UPDATE: DeSantis Hits Back

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is busy prepping his state for another hurricane (while still providing relief in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene) and Kamala Harris’s people are whining to the press that he isn’t taking her calls.

What does he have to discuss with her? She’s not the President. DeSantis is smoking the federal response without her.

Per NBC: “An aide to the Florida governor said that Harris' call ‘seemed political’ and that she ‘was trying to reach out, and we didn’t answer.’" Well, duh. He’s been a little busy and doesn’t have the time or patience to be used as a political prop for a failing VP and presidential candidate who only wants to use the call to blast some credibility-by-association scheme four weeks before an election.

DeSantis isn’t trying to score hits, he’s just doing his job. Whether it’s reaffirming Floridians’s right of Second Amendment self defense in an emergency, slamming GOP FEMA culpability, or taking on the union boss’s strike, his leadership is a stark comparison to North Carolina’s Roy Cooper and even the Biden-Harris response. It’s why her team is blasting to the press that he ducked her call. All they can do now is try to argue that he made it political, which anyone watching Florida juggle Helene response and Milton preparation knows is just false.

If DeSantis (or any governor) wanted advice on how to delay emergency assistance, waste money, and cost more lives in the process, I'm sure Harris wouldn’t have to call him, he’d call her.

UPDATE: DeSantis hit back (video) while on Fox last night and this morning, denying that she ever called:

“She’s delusional. She has no role here. She’s been VP for 3 years and never contributed anything to these storm efforts. She politicizing the storm to save a failing campaign."
