Gavin Newsom Is Running
The California Governor terms out in '26 and has his eyes on the '28 White House.
Beware the Democrat who begins running to the middle four years before the next general election.
Gavin Newsom has found time to host a podcast while still Governor of California. It’s a smart move that uses his current relevance to create a platform he can use after he terms out in 2026. That’s the move of someone who is eyeing Washington.
His first move was a bit of a flop. He tried to compete with Republicans by creating opposition to DeSantis’s Florida Blueprint model by promoting California as the Democrat blueprint. He traveled to Florida to meet with voters and talk to the press; his remarks were boilerplate Trump-centric complaints that didn’t do anything to win over the independents and moderates, a demo he needs but clearly had no idea how to court.
His second attempt is his podcast. Instead predictably inviting other complaining leftists, he reached out to conservatives, not by going on their projects, but hosting them on his.
