GamerGate 2.0 - DEI and Government Watchers
Sweet Baby Inc is just the tip of the iceberg, and the Feds want to meddle in gaming as well.
Ten years ago, gamers revolted against the video game industry journalists after it was revealed that an indie developer had slept her way to better reviews for her crappy games. Gaming media then worked to spin the narrative into sexist attacks on all female gamers.
Fast forward ten years, and the industry is slowly killing itself with DEI garbage ham-handedly shoved into so many games. One example is the recent flop of “Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League,” an Arkhamverse game. Gaming media would have you think that Batman fans are merely angry with the death of the Arkhamverse Batman, given that it would be the final performance of a beloved voice actor, the deceased Kevin Conroy. According to my son, it’s more than that. It was the race-swapping of Deadshot from the canonical white man to a black man, just to match the movie version and add some diversity to the cast of the game. It was explained in the game that the original white guy had stolen the real Deadshot’s identity.
My son also said it’s not Batman’s death that angers fans; it’s the disrespectful way it was handled. They didn’t give Batman a meaningful death the way they did Wonder Woman. This was the first appearance of the Justice League in the Arkhamverse, and Wonder Woman got treated better than any of the men in the game, including the heart and soul of the series, Batman.
Steam user Kabrutus noticed a pattern of strange departures from the norm in many of his games and discovered that a company called Sweet Baby Inc, a consultancy firm that focuses on helping gaming companies ensure their products are DEI-compliant, was credited with contributing to them. Last January, he created a Curator list on Steam and a Discord server to let others know about the issue, and soon, the entire gaming world was buzzing about Sweet Baby Inc and the many other consultancy companies in the gaming sphere. It was very quickly discovered that Sweet Baby Inc had written the script for Suicide Squad:KTJL. While Kabrutus’s Curator has been the focus of media attention, as far back as November 2023, Steam user YuGo_Wolverino was pointing out the problems with Sweet Baby Inc games, including Alan Wake 2, Spiderman 2, and God of War 2.
