Yesterday Joe Biden once again issued a proclamation stating that Easter Sunday was the national “Trans Day of Visibility,” whatever that means. Insisting that it fall on the Lord’s day is bad enough, on Easter? Sacrilege. I don’t say that lightly, either.
There are two things wrong here. One: we see too much trans activism, not too little. It’s a tiny segment of the population struggling with a mental issue and it’s overrepresented by an astronomical margin in entertainment. That’s on purpose. Two: we see too little Jesus. We see too little of Him not just in our entertainment, but in our daily life, even in the way we treat others. None of us are immune.
That’s the whole point, though — Jesus came to save all, in spite of all we’ve done. We’re all one of those nails in His hands and feet. We are all the spear piercing His side. We didn’t earn any of this, we could never, it was given. An omnipotent God gave us both free will and the gift of eternal life with Him, us, a broken, spiteful people. All because He loves us.
Love isn’t making people easier in their struggles, it’s helping them find the way out of them. It’s not shaming people for the false compassion of tolerating vices that society is too selfs-indulgent to accurately call “sin” anymore, so instead it’s “my truth.”
We’ve lost our way, but that doesn’t mean the path isn’t still there. We are all the prodigal son to varying degrees and when we choose to walk home again, all of us, our Father in Heaven will celebrate.
These are trying times, but we are not alone. You do not have to become a monster to fight monsters. Remember: the fight was already won.
Below is what I wrote last year. Thank you, Jesus. Happy Resurrection Day.
Amen Sister! Happy Resurrection Day to you and family - and everyone! Let's go be the Church!
No one can put the real meaning of Easter into words better than you. Thank you Dana.
