Don't Buy It: Democrats Try To Contain New Mexico Gun Ban Fallout
Soros-backed AG the latest to grandstand
Oh, the irony. New Mexico AG Raul Torrez threw Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham under the bus with a four-page statement full of “I will not enforce this” theatrics:
“But Dana, don’t you think you’re being too harsh here? Give credit where it is due?” one might ask.
No.
No, because it begs the question that there exists in this statement any sincere sentiment about safeguarding natural rights. It doesn’t. Further, we know it’s not sincere because the incompetent Torrez declined to acknowledge his contribution to spiking the crime rate while DA of Bernalillo County:
Albuquerque Police Chief Gorden Eden said the recent spike was in part due to the case management order that went into effect in 2015. The state Supreme Court order that only affected the Albuquerque area aimed to reduce the population in jail by moving cases through the courts more quickly.
“With the case management order we started to see cases being dismissed by the District Attorney’s office and started to see the jail population decrease,” Eden said. “Quite frankly, what I think happened is there were just too many decisions being made in the criminal justice system and that has created a real perfect storm for our state and for the 2nd judicial district.”
It’s a motte-and-bailey tactic: Governor bans all guns. Gun owners shout “See! We knew it’s what they wanted all along!” Democrats, suddenly faced with an election cycle where a Democrat governor’s gun ban will be used as universal party branding, devise a way to run back to a more defensible “let’s have the debate” position.
They can cosplay as the sort of “sensible” gun control advocates who believe that even this is one too far. Buuuut, while we’re on the subject of gun control …”
…
It’s somewhat clever. Soros-backed Torrez isn’t disagreeing with Lujan Grisham on the principle of natural rights, he’s taking issue solely with her process. To independents and moderates, it gives the impression of drawing a line in the sand while making him seem more credible because he’s challenging the governor of his state. I wrote this yesterday:
Democrats like Ted Lieu and other and anti-Second Amendment grifters pretend to condemn her actions — not because they disagree with them, but because her hasty order gives away their strategy of incremental moves towards a ban.
In reality, Torrez literally helped create the crime spike with his restorative justice policies that his fellow New Mexico Democrats exacerbated by wasting taxpayer money instead of boosting police enforcement and refusing to pursue most misdemeanors.
Lujan Grisham is a termed-out governor with no future political prospects so there’s no penalty in challenging her. By opposing Lujan Grisham, Torrez gives himself cover and preserves Democrats’s cosplay of supporting gun rights.
Don’t buy it.

Of course, They do some really stupid things. This was the goal of the left, but not this soon. They wanted to this slowly. Chip at the foundation of American. I don't know why, other than they want total power. We the people need to wake the hell up. We keep doing this the future doesn't look so good.
