This was the debate that Americans wanted.
No one who is America first was rooting for Newsom tonight. That said, it was like watching a seasoned boxer mercilessly beat a character from “Lazy Town” to death: at some point you began to wince whenever Newsom opened his mouth because you knew he was just going to get walloped with a response. It was almost too much.
DeSantis brought show-and-tell items.

Yes, a helpful map of all the places where people have pooped in the streets so people can avoid it.
He held up a copy of the sexually explicit Genderqueer book that was available to 12 and 13 year-olds all across the country, you know, the graphic novel that showed minors engaging in very oral sex that can’t be broadcast but can be given to you minor child.
These were two coveted “moments” from a night filled with a series of moments for the Florida Governor, who won this debate within the first few minutes.
DeSantis was upbeat, jovial, and easily cut through Newsom’s Drakkar Noir-esque suave shtick. Try as he might, Newsom couldn’t trigger him and this frustrated the California Governor. It was a really interesting contrast between the two paths that lay before voters now: freedom or tyranny?
