Debt Ceiling Deal Reached!
Both Biden and McCarthy are taking heat, and no one is sure it will pass Congress.
Late Saturday night, Speaker McCarthy and President Biden announced a tentative agreement on a debt ceiling bill. The deal supposedly will raise the debt ceiling until 2025, cap spending on everything but the military, the VA, Social Security & Medicare, claw back some Covid funds and some of the money given to the IRS for new agents, streamline some permitting processes, and increase the current work requirements for SNAP and TANF.
McCarthy held a brief presser to announce the deal at about 9 pm Saturday. In it, he promised to have the text of the bill available by Sunday night and to give the House members until Wednesday to read over it ahead of the vote.
President Biden announced the deal on Twitter, mentioning that compromise “means not everyone gets what they want.”
Both sides have put out Talking Points. The GOP Leadership is circulating this memo:
Meanwhile, the White House has put out a 3-page memo of Talking Points:
Many GOP Congressmen have taken to Twitter to express their frustration with this deal:
Republicans are not the only ones mad about this deal:
Meanwhile, Senator Lindsey Graham was in Ukraine, promising President Zelensky more funding and weapons above the recent $35 Billion in weaponry and military hardware recently promised by President Biden. He also declared, “And now the Russians are dying, best money we’ve ever spent.” Debt Ceiling? What Debt Ceiling? Russians are dying, so let’s keep making it rain on Ukraine.

I have mixed feelings on this debt ceiling matter. I don’t know if it will actually benefit the American people or not. I think it’s time to stop sending all of our military weapons to the Ukraine. We need to shore up our military here, close our borders to this illegal alien matter and get our country back before it’s too late, and stop this environmental insanity because our infrastructure cannot support this kind of change at this time. Also, our government needs to stop spending our money like we have an endless supply of it. Sorry for the rant, but our country needs to turn around before we have no free country left.
We still don't know what's in it!
