Colleen Slemmer was 19 years-old in 1995 when her Jobs Corps classmate, 18-year-old Christa Pike, 17-year-old Tadaryl Shipp, and 18-year-old Shadolla Peterson lured her into the woods. Pike was jealous of Slemmer and believed the young woman was after her boyfriend, Shipp. For nearly an hour Pike and Shipp beat, stab, and cut her with a meat cleaver and Pike used a boxcutter and carved pentagrams into Slemmer’s face and chest, gouged and slashed her breasts, before she grabbed a large chunk of asphalt and bashed in Slemmer’s skull. Pike carried the skull piece with her as a trophy and reportedly showed it off while bragging to classmates. Slemmer’s body was so badly disfigured that when the groundskeeper later found the shirtless body, he thought it was a dead animal of some sort. I am not posting the horrifying and unseeable crime scene photos or linking them here but I have viewed them to understand the extent of Pike’s depravity.
