POTUS Leaves G7 Early, Has National Security Council Waiting in Situation Room

Something is happening and it’s really big, but no one knows more. It’s easier if I just give you a rundown of the pots on the stovetop:

• POTUS dines with world leaders and then departs G7 early for D.C. while the National Security Council is prepared and waiting in the Situation Room

• USS Nimitz was scheduled for a ceremony in Vietnam which was canceled as the carrier is now called to join the USS Carl Vinson in the Middle East. Nimitz was to replace Vinson but now the two will be there at once

• China just issued orders today for its citizens to evacuate its embassy in Israel

It’s significant that the Nimitz was pulled from its current course in the South Sea and rescheduled for the Middle East.

It’s also significant that POTUS is ditching the G& summit early. All of these things are significant. Apparently POTUS nixed the idea of taking out Iran’s Ayatollah Khamenei. The mullahs will not go quietly into this good night, that’s one thing for certain. It’s also certain that they’ve lost a lot of support in the region and the protection of Assad’s old regime now with new leadership in Syria. Don’t forget POTUS telling the Arab world last month that he was reducing Syrian sanctions thus opening up new avenues of investment for Middle Eastern countries into the war-torn nation. So far countries like Saudi Arabia resisted, not wanting to incur sanctions themselves for working with the now-formerly blacklisted nation. POTUS’s statement was received with a standing ovation led by Mohammed bin Salman himself.

Is the new strategy emerging tonight designed to force a weakened Iran into a no-other-option surrender? If so, it’s an option that doesn’t include the survival of the mullahs’s regime. I’ll watch this and update more here if anything kicks off tonight and have full analysis on tomorrow’s program.

One thing is for sure: This is Jimmy Carter’s legacy.
