Yesterday evening the Trump admin ordered personnel to evacuate from a number of Middle East embassies including Bahrain, Iraq, and Kuwait. Now we see why:
The U.S. told Israel we would not participate.
Israel struck a number of nuclear facility and long-range missile sites and has declared a state of emergency, along with suspending flights. Tehran’s air command was one target. Assad’s fall took out a key defense of Iranian airspace and the new regime denied Iranian use of Syrian airspace.
Based on their intel, Iran was growing closer to nuclear capability. Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu stated of Operation Lion: “We have no choice but to act swiftly. If we don’t act now, we simply won’t be here anymore. ‘Never again’ is now. We have learned the lessons of history: when a foe says he intends to destroy you – believe him.” Even the corrupt U.N., not historically favorable towards Israel, ruled that Iran isn’t abiding by the agreement not to pursue nuclear capability. It only took several decades.
There is some trepidation within the admin about a successful outcome that doesn’t lead to all-out war. If Israel’s information is accurate, the clock was running out on their ability to leverage the element of surprise on a weakened Iran. Their gamble is war isn’t wanted, but can the world coexist peacefully with a nuclearized Iran. Iran, when it wasn’t calling America “the great devil,” did nothing to assure its neighbors of its peaceful intentions. Trump already warned Iran off of targeting American assets.
We’ll find out soon whether or not the gamble pays off. The deep breath before the plunge has passed. We will find ground soon.
*A quick note — Iran’s regime isn’t its Persian population, a population you’ll remember the IRGC sniped Neda Agha-Soltan in the death seen around the world and martyred her as a resistance fighter against the brutal regime. I’m not sure the Iranian population wouldn’t love to be rid of Jimmy Carter’s greatest mistake and less than any of us.
So does this mean we wake up to Iranian flag profile pics tomorrow? 🤔
Thank you, Israel.
